Fallin' into Fall

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

I used to be a summer girl. Give me some sunshine and a swimsuit, and I'd be golden brown in minutes. Then I moved to San Antonio and that seasonal love got torched (pun intended). My love for fall then began. It's not that San Antonio has particularly gorgeous autumns (remind me why we live here again?), but the promise of not getting sweaty buns from walking to my car is enough to win me over. And who doesn't like cozy sweaters, pretty leaves, and pumpkin-flavored everything?

Grahm and I decided to go to a pumpkin patch this weekend to truly kick off this wonderful fall season. Even though it's still in the high 80s here, we reckoned fall couldn't help but show its delightful self if we had some pumpkins in our front yard. Genius, yes?
Somehow I was supposed to understand that he was referencing Hamlet here. That's a pumpkin, babe. Not a skull.
My pregnancy app tells me Baby Girl is only the size of a grapefruit this week, but my maternity pants and I beg to differ.
The mark of a good husband is when he'll shamelessly take a public selfie with you.
Turns out, we are terrific pumpkin pickers. (Though I did have to steer Grahm away from the warty ones, which he was inexplicably drawn to.) It's a gift, my friends.
We then came home and decorated the outside of our house. Okay, I decorated. Grahm watched.
I got some cheap baskets from GoodWill for the mums because who wants to see those icky black containers? Just plop and drop 'em in!
I added a burlap bow to one of the baskets because bows obviously make everything better.
Doesn't our front door just say, "Come on in, y'all!" Although criminal and people we don't know, y'all can just ignore the inviting flowers and pumpkins.
I also made a burlap banner for the bottom of our stairs. I couldn't decide if I wanted it to say "Happy Fall, Y'all" or "Give Thanks" so it remains blank for now.

Are you decorating for fall?
Later this week, I'll show you how we (again, me) decorated the inside of our house. Sparkly pumpkins may or may not be involved...

Such a beautiful fall front porch, if I was in the area I would definitely feel invited in ;)

It is definitely begging people to come inside--in the not creepy kind of way, of course. It's so cute! Feel free to travel over here and decorate my tiny apartment entry way any day ;)

So cute!! I love the wreath. That's the only thing I haven't put up in our fall decor!! We decorated a couple weeks ago though when it started to get down in to the 40's and 50's at night up in Boston!! (I love this time of year up here- but I still miss the south!) Happy fall!

You two are so cute! How much fun to go collect pumpkins. We are playing it cheap while the fiancé is in school. No decor for us right now. Although I'm thinking I might have to pick up some cute mini pumpkins.
