50 Shades of Gray

Someone should tell you that buying a house is the easy part. The decisions afterward are the real killer in your crotch biscuits.

Like paint.
Just a color, right? Easiest/cheapiest way to dramatically change your house, yes? Wrong. It's the mother of all headaches. It smells. It's a clothes ruiner. It makes you cry. And it's tempermental--the simplest things set it off (Oh wait, that's just me).

Holy Aunt Jemima. Cover me in butter and call me a pancake, cause this gal is panned out on colored goop-- which is a problem seeing as we haven't even finished one room in our every-wall-needs-to-be-painted house.

We got one million samples (okay, four).
There are only 899 ways a paint color could go awry. That color on the fancy pants card at Home Depot? All lies, my friend. Check yourself before your wreck yo'self and your walls.

It was 50 Shades of Gray up in here. We slapped our gray paint samples on the walls, and I instantly had a moment of "Oh my goodness, I just ruined my house." Our walls weren't really bad to begin with, they just weren't my personal preference.

After my moment of hysteria, I let the paint dry. And waited a day. Then we painted a few walls to see how it would look. Eureka! We like it a lot, praise the Lord.

I've never been so much on the verge of happy tears and mass panic. I think my heart fell to my butt a few times (clearly, my life is sad).

But at least we have a color now. Now to cover the rest of the downstairs with it! That's one decision down, one zillion to go. After pictures to come!

We have 3 different shades of gray paint just downstairs alone. Painting sucks. I can't tell you how many times we changed colors here before we even moved in. I think it can change a space but it's still a pain lol

Oh man do I know exactly what you are going through! Just know that it is completely worth it in the end! I can't wait to see your progress!

Can't wait to see the after pics! Our house has 100% "builder beige" walls EVERYWHERE and I desperately want to paint at least one room. But I also don't want to get a divorce, and I can totally see a paint project {or any house project, really} doing that. Fun times, fun times.

Happy Housing, y'all! :)

I like how that color turned out and I completely agree with you on the headache of choosing paint colors! I am redoing my closet at the moment and that was a difficult one for me. I find the easiest way to do a whole house is to choose a palette from whatever brand you are going with - Martha, Benjamin Moore, etc. and pick complimentary shades that they already have chosen that go together. But if you want to take a risk that might be well worth it - go for it! Looking forward to seeing the after pics for the place!

I warned you painting was a huge headache!! One thing I will tell you about grey paints is that there is no such thing as "grey". Lol. There's blue-grey, purple-grey, brown-grey, light-grey.... The list goes on. It will pick up from the colors in the room! Which can be annoying, but it can also work to your advantage! Just something to look out for. :) have fun painting woo! Can't wait to see the end result!

Ugh! I HATE painting! I get all excited at first, but after that one wall is done, I am too! I cannot wait to see the end result!

I absolutely hate to paint! I thought it would be so fun to paint our house. WRONG. But it will be done soon and it's totally worth it and then you can enjoy your gorgeous walls!

GIRL YES! i always suggest to buy the samples first and live with a huge square for a few days before making a decision or you end up like me living in a bedroom where the walls make you want to scream. :)
Can't wait to see what y'all decided on!

my hubby bought our house a couple years before we got married, and EVERY WALL was this awful light tan. a month before our wedding {and a month before it was going to be MY house too}, i decided we needed to start painting. it takes so long and is so tedious, but it makes such a big difference! best of luck and i can't wait to see the after pics!

Choosing a color, then a specific color among the chosen color (if you know what I mean) is so nerve wrecking! We've been in our house since May and I got so overwhelmed that I still haven't made a decision yet...consider yourself lucky! So ready to see the after pictures!

Seriously, painting is way more stressful than it should be! Haha. Good luck on your wall-painting endeavors!
