Bling, Blingin'

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

While frumpy strange men pack up our little home for the big move, I thought I'd link up with CMae and show off my bling -- which is far more exciting than worrying about movers breaking my pictures frames, or running off with our TV.

Grahm picked out my ring all by himself. He researched diamonds (in true engineering fashion) for months before he finally settled on one. I think it's so special when the guy makes the decision on the bling he wants to give his lady. Picking out your own presents is why you register at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Last May he sent me on a scavenger hunt around Oklahoma City to places significant to our relationship: the airport, a sushi restaurant where we had our first date, my house... etc. With each clue, he wrote a sweet little poem as to the significance of each spot. I was so excited! I wanted to hurry up and tell him YES before he became sane again and changed his mind.

My sister brought me heels, a dress, and the proper undergarments (shank you!) to change into, so I wouldn't look like a hot mess for the big moment. Remind me to thank her later.

I love it. It's a one carat diamond on white gold with little diamonds all the way around. Here's the matching band. This was before I knew it's supposed to be flipped the other way so the band is closer to your heart. Who makes up these rules anyway??

I hope my little smokey fingers don't ruin it too much.
I still stare at it all the time... I love that my best friend got it for me, and I love that I will be wearing it for the rest of my life!

I had no idea about the "closer to your heart" thing either, until the man that was going to marry us told me.
Where would I be without him.

Beautiful ring. A creative way to propose as well. My husband picked out my ring himself, and I love that.

I love your ring! I am a fan of little diamonds surronding the big one.

And thanks for the comment on my blog! They must think people under 25 like to walk everywhere when they travel! haha. I'll never understand the reasoning behind that one! =)
